The Standard newspaper reported that the victim, professor Hassan Nandwa disappeared at the Anti Terror Police Unit offices shortly after he visited a man who had finished his jail term, on October 29. There was immense public pressure on the State from Muslim leaders, the civil society and the general public to find Nandwa. Nandwa was found alive in Mwingi town, on November 7.
