Bodaboda Rider
According to witnesses’ accounts, police officers on patrol from Kayole attacked John Kiiru who was a pillion passenger heading home on August 19 past midnight. The bodaboda rider managed to escape. It is alleged Kiiru made a phone call at 12:30AM and confirmed he had been assaulted by the police. He collapsed at Tushauriane stage where he was found dead the following day. His death sparked protests from locals. The autopsy done at Mama Lucy Hospital shows John Kiiru's head was bludgeoned with blunt objects, causing internal bleeding into the brain.Nairobi regional police boss Augustine Nthumbi said the matter would be investigated while IPOA has requested witnesses to volunteer information.
