According to the Standard newspaper, police confirmed KDF soldiers and police killed two civilians in Uasin Gishu county, Turbo Subcounty Chebarus village on December 25 following a land dispute residents claim is still pending in court. Witnesses say residents crashed with soldiers over a boundary dispute. Soldiers allegedly shot in the air and lobbed teargas to disperse angry crowd that attempted to stop surveyors from surveying a disputed land. The live bullets hit 4 people and killed Joel Keter and Eliud Menjo on the spot. Uasin Gishu police boss Ayub Gitonga said police are investigating the matter.
