Duncan Okoko was allegedly arrested on January 22, 2022 by police officers from Soweto police station, Nairobi county, following a complaint of death threats against him by a woman she had lent money. Police beat him during the arrest. According to a post-mortem, Okoko died due to a brain trauma caused by a blunt object. Independent Police Oversight Authority are investigating five police officers in relation to the death.
