Nakuru county police commander Peter Mwanzo has confirmed police shot dead four people on
July 15 after they attacked police with “arrows and machetes.”
Mwanzo said the deceased were members of a criminal gang dubbed Nyuki Squad under another
crime umbrella dubbed Confirm,” The deceased were killed at Barut, Kwa Maiko village Nakuru
West sub-county.
Mwanzo said residents told police the gang was attacking people at night and police decided to
lay ambush.
Residents have however contradicted the police version. They say the four young men were
targeted by police and were actually picked from their houses before police shot them at one
place. Postmortem report indicates the four died after excessive bleeding caused by a hail of
Bullets.
