In Siaya county,Ungunja subcounty police boss Emmanuel Rono confirmed police shot dead
Aloice Owino Ooko on July 11 at around 4 PM.
Reason: The deceased allegedly blocked officers from Ungunja police station from arresting an
illicit brewer only identified as Nyamalo. Rono said Owino attacked police constable Douglas
Wangila using a panga and cut the officers hand.
In self protection,Rono said Wangila shot the deceased in the right side of the neck. According to
Rono,the junior officer had first shot twice in the air to scare the deceased without success.
Deceased was taken to Ambira subcounty hospital where he died and body kept in the same
facility.
