On August 7, 2021, Ayale Asanaq, a 22 year old male, was allegedly shot by police officers. The residents were requesting to know why the officers were patrolling Kiamaiko, which is out of their jurisdiction, and harassing the community. The officers shot into the air and a stray bullet hit Ayale. Ayal was taken to Jumuiya Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
