K 24 TV reported one tuk-tuk driver was allegedly shot dead by police in Kahawa West protests during a demonstrating by residents over demolitions of kiosks. According to the TV residents say Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) police started destroying their business kiosks at around 3 am in the morning prompting them to react. They say there was no prior notice ahead of the demolitions. MV went to the ground and confirmed that Alex Macharia was allegedly shot dead by police from Kahawa West police station. He was a Tuktuk rider. Macharia was not one of the protestors. Witnesses told MV he was shot by a stray bullet and died on the spot. IPOA released a statement saying it is investigating the case.
