Two cops in custody after girl’s shooting

Two police officers in Kacheliba, West Pokot County, are behind bars after getting involved in a shooting incident that left a 28-year-old barmaid hurt.
A police report showed assistant county commissioner Moses Ekisa and his counterpart, Isaac Oshome, went to a bar where Miriam Nelimo works.
Oshome had an AK-47 loaded with 30 bullets. The officers wanted a drink.
It’s alleged that Ekisa and Nelimo are involved, according to a police report.
Ekisa, police said, found Nelimo with another man suspected to be her lover. He was furious and started fighting, a police report said.
“At this point, Oshome shot the barmaid,” police said, “hitting her abdomen and resulting in serious injuries”.
Ekisa and Oshome fled the scene using the former’s Toyota Fielder registered as KBL 794N.
Nelimo received first-aid medical care at the Kacheliba sub-county hospital. She was transferred to Kapenguria County Hospital, her condition failing, police said.
Police said they will use the gun and 29 bullets as exhibits against Ekisa and Oshome.
The Kacheliba incident happened a day after the arrest of another police officer in Umoja, Nairobi, who was involved in a fatal shooting. The deceased is yet to be identified and the motive for the shooting is still a mystery.
Witnesses saw the two arguing at about 3:00 am before police officer Jason Nyamolo reached for his gun and shot the other in the head, eliminating him instantly. Nyamolo was armed with a Glock pistol loaded with 14 bullets.
