Sunday, 5th March 2023

Two police officers were arrested on Friday evening for allegedly robbing three businessmen of money amounting to Ksh 5 million and a kilogram of gold valued at about Ksh 6 million.

The stolen money was in U.S. dollars.

The officers, one attached to Kilimani Police Station and the other to Muthangari Police Station, were detained at Mlolongo Police Station in Machakos County.

According to a report by Nation Africa, after the officers confronted their victims in Syokimau brandishing guns and barking orders, arrested them and drove them to Kilimani Police Station, all the while never giving any explanation.

At the station, the officers asked the three businessmen to disembark at the yard and never booked them into the occurrence book.

After a while, with no sight of the arresting policemen, the businessmen decided to head back to Mlolongo, where they filed a complaint with the police.

Investigations led to the arrest of the rogue cops, whom the businessmen identified positively.

They are expected to be arraigned and charged with robbery with violence.

Describing the incident as rare, Nairobi County police boss Adamson Bungei said action will be taken against the police officers. “This is an isolated case. The matter is being dealt with in accordance with the law,” he said.
