ODPP requests more time to finalize probe into missing Indians

Wednesday, 5th April 2023

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Tuesday requested the Kahawa Law Courts to give it two more months to finalize investigations into the disappearance of two Indians and a Kenyan.

Mohamed Zaid Sami Kidwai, Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan and their Kenyan driver Nicodemus Mwania are said to have been abducted near the Ole Sereni area along Mombasa road on July 24 and driven away in an unmarked car.

Eight police officers attached to the now defunct Special Services Unit (SSU) of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are under probe for their alleged involvement in the disappearance of the trio.

The mention of the case of the 8 accused officers has now been set for June 13.

Renowned Kenyan lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has on many occasions published messages on his social media platforms urging security agencies to produce the men.

He alleges that the three were abducted by state security operatives. The disappearances have attracted interest from Indian-based media outlets, some of which have called on the Asian country’s government to push Kenya to work harder to find the men.
