Nairobi cop among four to be charged with abduction attempt

A police officer is among four kidnappers set to be arraigned in court on Monday September 26, for the alleged abduction of a civilian on Friday, September 23.

According to a police report obtained by local media, the rogue cop, Constable David Komora Balesa was apprehended alongside Silas Omach Omondi, Diana Cheruto Bungei and Hillary Kiprono Chirchir as they attempted to drive away with their victim Nelson Rading Mango.

“Officers got information from the chief controller that one Nelson Rading Mango had been kidnapped along Uhuru Highway toward Bunyala. When they got to the scene, they intercepted a Mazda motor vehicle registration number KCL 760X. Upon interrogation, it was established that one of the four was an officer attached to Buruburu Police station together with an inner driver and two others,” K24 Digital quotes the police report to read in part.

Rading however managed to escape moments before the police officers arrived at the scene, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Constable Balesa and his three accomplices are currently in police custody and will be charged with the offense of kidnapping.

Missing Voices would like to commend the police officers who acted quickly to thwart the abduction, taking note that the incident, had it been successful, would have been cause for another family’s grief.

We continue to call on all security agencies to ramp up their efforts to root out rogue elements from within their ranks, thereby making Kenya a safer country for its citizens.

We hope Constable Balesa and his compatriots face the law as stipulated in the Constitution, and if found guilty, face the full wrath of the law.
