Mombasa cop shoots wife three times, leading to her death

Police in Mombasa have opened investigations into an incident where a fellow cop shot his wife leading to her death.
Initial reports indicate that Meshack Kosgei, an officer attached to the Bamburi Police Station, shot Emaily Masinza three times leading to her death.
Kosgei shot Masinza twice on her thighs and once on her stomach region on December 6, 2022.
The woman succumbed to her injuries on Friday morning.
Her family, filed with anguish, explained that her three-year marriage to Kosgei was filled with quarrels, and that she had been advised to leave.
“In October, she said he had hit her with a phone and taken her identity card. I told her to pack her belongings and come home. A few days ago I was called and informed that she had been shot,” said John Azangu, Masinza’s father.
Citizen Tv reports that doctors at the Coast General Hospital managed to remove two bullets from Masinza’s body before she succumbed to the injuries.
Azangu labelled Kosgei a killer, questing his motive for leaving the police station with his loaded gun.
Kosgei is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.
In the meantime, investigators are going on with their probe into the matter.
