CPK accuses police officers of shooting man dead in front of his family

The Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) has accused police officers in Kitui of brutally gunning to death a man early on Wednesday, January 11.
CPK claimed in a statement that three uniformed police officers stormed the home of Felix Musili’s parents at 5:00AM in Mumbuni, before pumping several bullets into his body, as his family watched helplessly.
No explanation was given for the killing and so far, details about the three police officers remain scanty.
“His murder was carried out only a few days after President Ruto appeared on national TV to assure the Kenyans that extra-judicial killings common with every successive regime in Kenya would be a thing of the past,” the statement signed by CPK General Secretary Sefu Sanni, said.
“The Communist Party of Kenya demands the immediate arrest of the police who took an innocent soul, and in addition to the arrest, conduct a speedy investigation, prosecution and jailing of the persons responsible for this heinous crime,” it added.
Missing Voices has taken note of the alleged killing, an incident that would not only be a huge negation of President Ruto’s security pledge, but also a blow to a police service that is struggling to wash clean a muddied reputation.
We implore the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to look into the allegations levelled by CPK, and urge that any rogue officers found culpable of the gruesome murder be brought to book, held accountable and punished in accordance with Kenyan laws.
We remind the National Police Service of the repeated pledges by President Ruto, Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki and other stakeholders to ensure the country’s security agencies respect the existing laws of the land while discharging their duties. Missing Voices will remain attentive to this case until the truth is revealed, leading to the delivery of justice for Musili’s distraught family.
