According to the Standard, on September 28 2021, Robinson Manyonge was with a friend outside at night when they were allegedly stopped by three police officers who were on patrol at Big Tree area. It was reported the officers clobbered them accusing them of breaking curfew rules. Manyonge’s friend managed to escape and was shocked to learn of Manyonge’s death the following morning. According to sources, Manyonge had been arrested earlier in the month with burglary, close relatives allege it was a false accusation. The second hearing for this case was supposed to occur on October 5, 2021. Some allege that the police officers could have had a grudge against Manyonge as a result of the ongoing case. Kiminini sub-county police commander Francis Tumo said the matter is under investigation.
