According to Nation newspaper, Benson Njiru,22 and his brother Emmanuel Mutura,19 were arrested on August 1 past 10PM at Kianjokoma Town in Embu County by police officers from Manyatta Police Station who were enforcing the 10PM-4 AM curfew. Their bodies were later discovered at Embu Level Five Hospital Morgue. Their parents insist police murdered their sons. Local police chief in charge of Embu East, Emily Ngaruiya said the duo were injured after they jumped off a moving police car and were pronounced dead on arrival at Embu Level Five hospital. According to THE STAR which quoted pathologists report, the brothers died as a result of being hit with a hard blunt object in the head. Benson Njiru’s body had multiple injuries on the head and broken limbs while Emmanuel Mutura had head injuries. The officers allegedly involved in the killings of Benson and Emmanuel are Corporal Consolota Njeri, Corporal Benson Mbuthia, Constables Lilian Cherono, Martin Wanyama, Nicholas Sang and Constable James Mwaniki, who was driving the police vehicle that fateful night. They have all been arraigned after IPOA investigations.
